The AGM was scheduled and booked but COVID-19 put a change to all of that. The COVID-19 restrictions are easing up, a bit, and the Board has decided to meet again. A number of issues will be discussed with the key one being the AGM. Stay tuned.

Sandy Hook Community Association Special AGM
6:30 pm Saturday, April 28, 2019
Sechelt Art Centre
5714 Medusa Street, Sechelt
Dear Sandy Hookers.
This is a notification for our Annual General Meeting on Sunday April 28 at 6:30pm at the Sechelt Arts Center. All Sandy Hook Residents are invited to attend. New members (and expired members) will have an opportunity to become members in good standing during the meeting.
This has been a busy year for the all the Directors. Issues arising from logging have added to the work around community events. We have received approval for a swim float from DOS. The Society has been brought into compliance with the new BC Societies Act by updating bylaws and improving governance. Sandy Hook has been represented at SCAF meetings. Plans are being enacted to participate in the Speedwatch Radar monitoring program with the RCMP and ICBC. Both the Pumpkin Carving Contest and the Caroling in the Park were successful events supported by funds obtained through Community Grants.
Our constitution defines our purpose: “… to promote and maintain… the general welfare of the Sandy Hook Community, and plan programs and build facilities which will enhance the recreational and community life at Sandy Hook”. These high words need to be backed up by dedicated society members and committed Directors.
Your Association is requesting members step forward to sit on the board with like-minded neighbors to improve our community.
Fortunately, directors are only asked to work on projects which they believe will enhance the livability of their own community. Directorship is a hobby. Unlike a job, you are only asked to do what you enjoy. You work for the benefit of yourself, your family and your community.
Requirements are minimal: Show up for most of the scheduled board meetings (enjoy the pot luck nibbles and beverages). Take on activities according to your skills, inclinations and talents. Live up to commitments you make for yourself. Enjoy the fruits of your labors with your family and friends.
All interested members are welcome to stand for board positions.

The registered name of our society is “SANDY HOOK PROPERTY OWNER`S ASSOCIATION“. This is the name as registered when the Society was founded in 1983. By custom, it has usually been referred to as “Sandy Hook Community Association“. This new name is in line with the names of other Community Associations on the Sunshine Coast. It also reflects the fact our Society seeks to serve the interests of all residents, not just property owners.
Motion: That Sandy Hook Property Owners Association seeks to change its name to Sandy Hook Community Association by submitting a constitution alteration application in accordance with the Societies Act of BC.
Alternate names (for application purposes): Sandy Hook (Sechelt) Community Association, or Sandy Hook Community Association (Sechelt).
